Physical Science Wonder Cards™ are printable inquiry cards designed to help students see science not simply as a collection of facts to remember, but as a way of observing, questioning, connecting ideas, and making sense of the world.

Each card begins with real physical science content—but the learning does not stop with the fact. Students are invited to wonder about what it means, explain their reasoning, hear other perspectives, and investigate the idea further. The goal is not simply to arrive at the right answer. It is to develop the habits of mind that make deeper learning possible: curiosity, thoughtful questioning, evidence-based reasoning, connection-making, and intellectual independence. The deck was designed primarily for learners in grades 5-9 and can be adapted for different levels of discussion and investigation. 

This 14-card Physical Science deck explores atoms and patterns, chemical reactions, states of matter, energy transformation and storage, motion, gravity, sound, light, simple machines, Newton’s Laws, and the larger patterns that allow us to understand and predict the physical world. The cards intentionally connect scientific concepts to broader questions about perspective, change, communication, possibility, interconnection, discovery, and the limits of human knowledge.
